I still haven't figured out how that 250bhp lump behind me propels my car so quickly, so responsively to such speeds. I've driven many cars with more cc; valves; bhp and cylinders and still don't understand how come 250 Porsche Horses feel like 350+ of other manufacturers?
In addition to replies above, remember the loss between flywheel and road wheels is pretty low in a 911, with 250fwhp, you would typically be putting out around 220- 230hp to the wheels. Other cars will lose much more power. A 4 wheel drive Subaru WRX STi with 346fwhp puts out as little as 221hp at the wheels -see link below if you can stomach it.

Even though many complain about how much the 964 weighs it is still pretty light when compared with many modern cars. An BMW E46 m3 weighs 3400lbs and an A4 is 3500lbs. The only other car that I was really impressed with was the M Roadster. 240hp really moves that 3000lbs car.
