Post HID replacement 911 headlights

I remember a few years ago a USA company offered a fully converted H4 replacement Headlight unit & lens for older 911's that was built as HID not just offerings ultra white bulbs or HID bulbs plus Philips transformers. These kits don't dip although they are now offered this way which makes them street legal in most countries I believe. Has anyone heard of any after market company offering this product. Regards, Mark - Tinwan, Hong Kong

Tinwan, Search the archives for HID. There were 1 or 2 long discussions about the current HID options. If memory serves, none were full solutions. All had significant drawbacks.

Warmfuzzies:
In the listed web page ( unles, of course, I'm mistaken)...do we continue to have the problem of only one strength for a 2 headlight system? ( that is...no separate hi/low?).

There are new bulbs now with a mechanical solution to the high/low problem. Basically it's at high all the time, but a little blinder/mirror deflects the beam so that it's focused like a low beam. This solves the delay problem.
I don't know how effective this is, or if there are any additional problems though....

Wil from the CA site:-

quote:
Please note that C.A.T HID kits are of premium quality kit unlike all other kits available on the market. C.A.T Kits are currently the onlyones available to use specially grafted ceramic bases to allow exact and correct fitment of the HID capsules within the existing halogen headlamps, all other kits on the market use 'mickey mouse' plastic connectors to try and locate the HID tubes within the headlamp, causing vibration and premature wear and incorrect focal length (thereby incorrect beam pattern)

C.A.T are also the only manufacturer to offer DUAL BEAM H4 fitment (i.e. Xenon lighting for both high and low beams on this application ).

So I guess they must do, it does take some navigation though.....
