I've seen a lot of threads that contain..."and make sure that you keep a spare of <these> in your glovebox!" Has anyone every done up a complete list of all the common-sense items, relays, fuses, etc. that logic dictates should be kept in the glove-box or at least a spare in the garage? What are the items that are likely to go bad/leave you stranded and why?

Some people carry spare belts. In particular, the fan and alternator belts. You can keep the old belts as emergency spares after installing new belts.

[quote]Is the DME relay you speak of for the fuel pump?

Rick,
Good ol' R41. The DME relay is the one relay, if it goes out to lunch and doesn't return, that will unequivically strand you, dead in the water, with an engine that won't start - the fuel pump will remain silent. Around $22, 993.615.227.00

That's right. If the cops catch you with a headlight or taillight(?) that doesn't work, and you don't have a spare set, the fine is around 45 €, AFAIK.
