you can cut them and twist/solder the ends together if you dont want the sensors. May or may not be a good idea depending on if you check them manually occasionally. The "hats" pads that are stock with them cost about $4-5 each. Search and you can see what others have used

I don't use the "hats". I use an anti-squeel compound instead. The brand I use is Permatex (no affiliation). It comes in a spray can. One can lasts a very long time (10 years+). I'm not sure if this is available in the UK but I'm sure there is a similar product. I find it to be a lot cheaper than buying the factory's "hats" and also it makes the pads easier to slide out of the calipers when it comes time to replace them.

Like Rob, I ditched the hats as it makes changing pads a pest.

I used high temp lithium grease on the back of the pads and it works well.

Hiya stuart1997
"Do i need to replace pad sensors when replacing pads?"
If the old sensors are not broken , you can use them again .
I like the sensors , they are nice to have .

(do they wear out?)"
They get ground down and broken when the pads get thin .
When the sensor gets ground down it comes apart and the comeing apart turns on the dash light .
