Post 964 ISV idle stabilizer valve

Hey all,

Where is the ISV (idle stabilizer valve) on a 964?

Thanks

It is a black plastic and aluminum cylindrical shaped unit, kinda looks like an older style ignition coil...well, sorta.

It is pretty much in the middle of the engine compartment, on top of the engine FI equipment, of course, just draw a line down from the forward part of the engine compartment opening...yup, that's it, right there!

If you need a pic, email me offline...I'll snap one today and send it in a reply email.

Hey Jeff,

Im really interested in following your ISV adjustment. My current C2 setup consists of:
1. Autothority MAFS, 2. custom chip by Protomotive (Autothority's chip was 50deg advanced and was pinging), 3. Nology coils, 4. dual outlet Tezet Muffler, 5. Cat bypass.

The car runs at a high idle constant 1100-1200 rpm, rarely but sometimes it does idle at 800 but only for a couple of seconds then goes back up.

How can you find out if your car is running rich or lean? is either way good or bad? more or less power?

If you can email me a pic of the ISV and instructions for adjustment I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Jeff

GP, you gotta email me OFF Rennlist, to remind me of pics and such.

I usually hang out on Rennlist during work hours (yes, at night), I don't store, nor can I, nor am I allowed to have pics on my computer at work.

I have acquired a custom chip that supposedly takes care of the LWF stalling issue, the previous owner says it works like a champ.

We'll see, it's burned for a stock 964 engine with LWF and upgraded exhaust...that pretty much means ME!

I still plan on carrying out the mods on the ISV as it simply makes your idle adjustable.

As for running lean/rich, that can be determined by installing an inline gauge with your O2 sensor or getting a "sniffer" (CO tester) at one of the few facilities that have them anymore.

The best thing you might be able to do is have your car put on the Bosch tester, I don't believe it's the "Hammer" but a friend of mine claims he has a newer device that he uses and adjusts the potentiometer in your DME, located under your Driver's seat.

Understand, I'm not much for the DME/tuning business when it comes to a 964...but I'm willing to learn! I'll leave that DME coding stuff up to Adrian and the such.

For now, once I get my tub back, install the engine/trans. and the other half a million components I removed for the body repairs...I'll put a couple hundred miles or so on the engine and once I "dub" it trouble-free, we'll plug in the chip and see what happens.
