Default Brake caliper identification help needed!!!

Can somebody identify this caliper? I am told that it has been used on a 911 RSR race car and it has 36/38 pistins?!?!?! Should be a rerar caliper. Never heard of such piston diameter ...

They were probably a front caliper from an '85 or 86 944 turbo originally. Some one adapted it to the rear of a 911, it's easy to do.

If adapted for 911 rear use the mounts will have 3" OC spacing unless the 911 used turbo arms in which case the spacing will be 3.5", in its original form the spacing was ~94mm

They look like 944 turbo parts.

Thanks a lot!!! Is it a good idea to use them as rear upgrade on my good old C4?!?! That is without messing around with MC and other major componennts - just a direct bolt on. Given that the front is 3.6 turbo calipers.

No!

Do you have the 3.6 turbo 322x32 rotors as well? If so then you want 30/34 rears. Some 993 rears would work nicely on stock 964 rear rotors or 964RS drilled rear rotors, both 299x24mm.

It would be wonderfull if the regular 965 30/34 calipers and 299x28mm rotor would fit a stock 964 but they do not.

Bill
I have the 322x32 3.6 rotors front and I am looking for the RS rear calipers. The ones on the picture wont fit without messing further with the system as I understand you, right?

I can not tell from the pic whether they will fit or not, but fit is irrelevant here.

The pistons are too large for the rear application you need.

964RS rear calipers are the same as 993 rear calipers. They both want the 299x24mm 964 rear rotors which you already have. The other option is the '92 -95 968 sport rotors aka 964RS rear rotors whuch are the same size but cross drilled.

993RS or 993tt are much bigger and won't work in your app either
