Remedy for "clicking" door stop???
Folks,
During the last few days my C4 has started to develop a "clicking" sound fron the door stops. I can actually see the "pin" moving slightly while swinging the door and at the same time the "clicking" is heard. Any remedy for this little annoying thing? Tried lubrication but to no help.
Ciao,
Johannes E.

Uh oh ... this is a big deal over on the 993 board. Apparently, the 964 has a weld where the 993 doesn't, but the 964 is not immune from the dreaded clicking. Here's one of many threads on the subject:

Here's hoping you just have a click, and your stay isn't tearing from the pillar.

Hey Randall,
My weld is perfect but it seems as if there is "play" between the bracket and the pin that goes through, causing the pin to move and develop the "clicking".

Hi Johannes,
Glad to hear your weld is okay.
Try sending an e-mail to Mike J. on the 993 thread. He described fixing a pin-induced clicking sound, and might have an idea.
The text from one of his posts:
"I think the clicking is the sound of wear or sloppyness between the end of the metal check arm and the pin that goes on the a-pillar. On my SC, I machined small bushings that rode in a finely machined hole I enlarged from the original one in the check strap arm. The clicking noise went away!"
Not sure if he's talking about the same thing here...
