too much ethanol in your gas can make you think the DME failed.

soldered (sodered!) all my relays, just to be sure, just load up the tracks on the board with solder, job done

Was there not a Porsche tech bulletin regarding upgrading the 944 p/n relay that was installed in the early 964's?

Good way to test your local INDY For unethical behavior..... My OEM relay failed, I got car home, ordered new, installed and tested DEALER and INDY, Both failed exam
