Dental floss works well.

TIP: before removal, take measurements in order to correctly position the replacement. Once these touch the paint you are toast... sticky like s*** on a blanket! When I removed my old ones, I did not do this and had to ask another RLer to take the measurements for me.

You wont find these details in any Porsche book I own...

Glad I could help with the slippery slope.

Not sure I understand your point?

Your comment about "Are you sure you prefer the silver one on your black on black?????????" suggested that it may be unusual and/or undesirable (i.e. tacky). The latter is certainly a personal choice (no right or wrong), the former is subject to fact. I was just pointing out that such combination actually became the standard for black 993 C4s.

Just an FYI, nothing more, nothing less.

I have a Carrera C2 black on black and was considering doing the same thing. I have already installed the silver hood badge and think it looks much better than the original gold one.

I have found sites that carry the silver "Carrera" but have yet to find one that carries the "2". Anybody know of a site that carries the "2" ?

I would imagine that Eric at www.bumperplugs.com could provide that for you.
He painted the rear 'RS America' badges Arctic Silver on my old midnight blue metallic 94 RSAmerica. Came out very nice, as does all of his work.

eBay - I did a search for "porsche silver emblem" and found a few.

Not sure how you read SO much into it! (Bit of silly oversensitivity IMO, but ah well!!)

I think your car looks great with the silver badging as does Marc's with the black...looking forward to seeing the final result!

I'll post a before and after with a poll to see which people like better.

Have "Carrera" and "4" badges/emblems in silver on order so we'll see.....

I agree Marc; that 993 with the silver badge looks great.
What I want to do is get rid of the "2" on my car. I know it was intended to differentiate between the C4 which came out first and the C2 later but now it just looks silly. Even more so when someone asks what the "2" is for and I tell them it means it has 2 wheel drive like just about every other car on the planet. Notice there aren't any other C2s (993s, 996s, 997s) with "2" on the back.
Anyway, you can't just take off the 2 because then the Carrera won't be centered. But I know when I take it off there'll be an outline of it on the paint. Will this outline come off and if so how? Hmm...silver?

3M makes a product called a "Scotch-Brite(TM) Molding Adhesive and Stripe Removal Disc Roloc(TM)+ 07501, 4 in x 3/8 in, 5 per case" ...used for removing pinstriping on cars. 3M part number is 051131-07501. This is a set of stacked, soft, gummy discs. Would be easy on one's paint.

I sell 3M (to companies...NOT individuals) so if you need help finding this item I'll try and track a retailer in your area. Your best bet would be an auto parts store.

Marc ... I searched E-Bay and could not find anyone selling the "2". Who did you order your "Carrera" and "2" from ?

Slappy, I got the emblems from this eBay seller (not me, don't know him, no relation, etc.).

He does not have any "2" emblems listed but you could contact him to see - one did show up when a searched a week or so ago so it may be hit or miss.

Thanks Marc ...

I checked and he had a black 2, but I added him to my "favorites" so I can keep track on him, plus I will continue to do a random search when I have nothing to do at the office ... hehe.
