AH, some welcome interest in our "orphans"!

1) 1991 C2, triple black, sunroof coupe, lowered, fat Yoko A032R on Fikse FM-10, Sparco Evo seats, five point harness, roll bar, Bursch tail pipe and Winward cone air filter.

2) Bought it in Plymouth Meeting, PA

3) 1994

4) It had 29,000 something (from a 30K lease no doubt), today it has just over 50,0000 miles

5) I too love the look of this car, I'm not put off by the fat bumpers at all. It is very fast for a non-turbo and has excellent road feel.

6) far beit for me to suggest improvements, but I could use the shifter & wheel to be a little farther back or the pedal cluster a little deeper, The stock exhaust headers are of a bad design we know.

1.)1993 color to sample Fly Yellow RSA

2.) purchased from second owner in Ohio

3.) took possession in Sept.2000 with 19,700miles, curent mileage is at 27k.

4.) this is my forth RSA and the absolute best! I feel fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time to make the purchase!I have had 944turbos,993's and a boxter S in between the RSA's ...Seems like I am always drawn back to the RSA...this is the one I will
keep!

5.) sure would have been nice if the euro rs was available here in the US!

I'll jump in too:

1 Model: 1990 C2 Coupe
2 Where bought: In Chicago at The Exchange
3 When bought: Nov of 2000
4 How many miles driven: 2400
5 Likes?: What's not to like about a 911... The 964 (to me anyway) seems to be the best of both worlds. Classic body lines, modern performance. Plus, that BIG tach right in front of your face.
6 Dislikes?: The 964 is too quiet for my taste... I miss all the motor noises from the earlier models.

That's me, jumping for joy at the recent purchase of my dream car:

1) 1991 C2 Coupe, Triple Black, Sunroof, 5 Spd. One previous owner, 38,000 miles.

2) Bought car in Vancouver, BC and had it shipped by train to my home in Montreal

3) November, 2001

4) Approx 100 miles (only arrived in Montreal about December 9th, went into winter storage a week later). Can't wait for mid-April, when I can get it back on the road!

5) I absolutely adore the styling of the coupe. First drove a 1975 911S coupe in 1979, and have been in love with it ever since. I find it really sexy looking, especially when viewed from the rear (it has incredibly voluptuous "hips"). Also love the horsepower/weight ratio (ie. acceleration). The creature comforts are nice, too, in a car as sporty as this one. The high speed handling, and the fact that the whole front end of the car is one massive spoiler (those front fenders make great fences, right Adrian?).

6) Dislikes: Design 90 wheels. Teeth-shattering suspension on Quebec roads (I'll be playing with tire pressures to fix this in April). What else? I dunno, give me a chance - I've only put 100 miles on the car!

Great thread, Melissa!

Anthony,

We met at Lime Rock Metro/NY-DE in September. Glad to see you're enjoying that Ferrari Yellow RSA. Beautiful car.

I'll look for you when the new season starts (you'll be driving the yellow RSA, right?).

MikeF,

My clutch was just replaced within the last month. The car had about 75K miles, I'm the fourth owner, purchased it with about 58K miles. I sent you a more lengthy reponse to the personal email you'd sent me (checked my personal email before I saw your post).

The surprising thing was that my flywheel needed to be replaced, my mechanic is finding the Luk flywheel to less than reliable on the 993 and the late model 964s. He checks every late model 911 in for a clutch job to see if the flywheel is leaking silicon. He also stated that he has found the flywheels on 993s to be more prone to failure than late model 964s.

3.1991

5. The way it makes me smile every time I am in it.
Shape, color, mine flies and likes it and I love it
6. Improved? I have taken care of all the little things that I even thought needed help ~ its been great. This is my 3rd go around with Porsche's so I have kind of let loose on this one. From a supercharger, intake to all parts of exhaust and mixture, clutch, wheels etc. The whole thing. I like the bug eyes and would only give it up for a Ruf (with bug eyes ) maybe. Have fun !

Another contribution from a dutch owner (in relative terms, quite a few seem about in this forum )

1. 1991 coupe (amazon green)

2. The Netherlands: OPC in Breda. Very happy that I bought from an OPC, by the way. They've corrected quite a few cosmetic problems and replaced a seized alternator under warranty.

3. October 2001

4. 3546 km (2211 miles)

5. Performance, looks, the way the car gives me a real driving sensation. Driving slowly is fun, but driving quickly is even more fun. It's amazing how easily an almost 11 years old car still does 265 km/h.

6. Steering position. My lower leg is probably too long: it doesn't fit between steering wheel and brake pedal. I'll see if I the brake pedal can be lowered a bit. Also, I would like it better if the steering wheel was a bit further from the dashboard (my arms are short relative to my legs).

Cheers, JW

I forgot all of the things that I am supposed to post about my car. I love it.

Sorry to poke in Melissa, but I thought this would be useful, and some have complained about the leg room.

I have a solution for those with long legs and big feet..
I purchased a pair of those slip on type surfing slippers. They have an elastic upper with a rubber lower, almost like a thin slipper with a serious sole. They fit behind the pedals well, yet have enough support for them. You can buy these in the US at most big sporting goods stores. By the way I have size 12's, that's 46 for you Euro,Canuck,Aussie, types.

Ah, what the hell, let's see if I can remember.

1990 C4 Cab, Nov 2001, 90,000 miles, put on 500 miles, no negatives yet, I'm a newbie.

My first post on Rennlist....

1990 C4 Coupe, Diamond Blue Metallic

I bought it in November 1999 in San Jose, CA when it had about 16K miles on it. I was shocked to see a 9 year old car with miles this low. The guy I bought it from only drove it about 2K miles. He bought it from the origninal owner in S. Cal - someone who had too many cars and never drove this one. The car was, and is, in like-new condition.

I've driven it about 10K miles since I purchased it. Never in the rain. Not nearly as hard as I'd like to drive it.

I love the way the power, handling and looks of the car. I am really happy with the coupe and love the smooth lines of the 964 model.

Minor complaints/improvements - the little electrical gremlins that cause the warning lights to come on when there is not really a problem - interlock, brake, belt, etc. I've got a new whining fan sound coming out of the interior temp. sensor. My battery has also drained a few times, probably to punish me for not driving it enough.

1. Year, body style of your 964.
1991 C2 Cabrio Tiptonic
2. Where did you buy your car (city, state/country)?
Seattle Washington, USA
3. When did you buy your car?
October 28th 2000
4. How many miles have you driven it?
38023 now - 35802 when purchased = 2221 miles
5. What do you like about your car?
It is so much like my 1976 911S
and yet it is so must BETTER !
and I love the Color Amethyst Metallic
and I love the Cab Top, Down!
and when in traffic, love the Tiptronic (& also when I read about Clutch & DMF troubles)
6. What would you like to see improved?
Not much, but better stability on rutty roads and less harshness from the rear tires on poor roads would be nice, and tougher paint to resist chips. Or, Better cleaner highways in Washington? Overall it is a wonderful balance of Sports Car characteristics, that's why I picked it over all the others.

Ok, I keep it going:

1. 93, RSA

2. Long Island, NY

3. Sept 01, with 37000 miles

4. Drive approx 4000 miles

5. Acceleration, handling. My god its a porsche.

6. Don't care for the sunroof, radio(aftermarket- can and will be replaced). Sports seats great for track, but not for long trips. But again its a Porsche!

Cool

Here's my .02 worth!

1. Year, body style of your 964.
’92 C2 Cabriolet, Tiptronic. White with grey interior.
2. Where did you buy your car (city, state/country)?
My first Porsche. Bought used in Dallas, TX. My first internet find and purchase. Had 54K on it when bought. Flew over (fm Florida) and drove back. Louisiana Hwy Patrol acknowledged my transit through the state with the usual “visa” – (I swear it was the Mitsubishi TT and not me who should have gotten the ticket!)
3. When did you buy your car?
July 1998. It was a great summer! Joined then Porschelist even before PCA.
4. How many miles have you driven it?
About 34 K to date. Daily driver and autocross/DE. (with second set of wheels of course).
5. What do you like about your car?
Second only to driving with the top down (near year-round here in Pensacola, FL) is walking up to it in a parking lot, and knowing its mine! Porsche don’t just sit there, they lay in wait and crouch!
6. What would you like to see improved?
Concur with your thoughts on the top – mine is already in poor-man’s manual mode (just loosened the pivot bolt) as the cable tip keeps pulling out of the transmission (at pivot point), need to silver solder the cable tip – I’m told that’s a good fix. Seems like tops on the 911 are somewhat of an afterthought.
7. And I'm adding a seventh point - Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!

Good thread as always,

Monty Willis

Here's mine;

1. 1991 CII Cab

2. Bought in Nashville, Tenn in Oct of 2000 with 90K

3. Car now has 117,000

4. I love the top down driving, besides being a Porsche, enough said on that.

5. Not much in the way of problems.(I hate saying that, I don't want to jinx it.) Spoiler control brain went, and window switches. Have done two major services, the last one myself, except for the valve adjustment, with help on what to do from MelissaM
