Yes Will, I studied your post thoroughly, and gained some valuable information from it...apologize for not giving you some credit.

I actually used your conversion/parts info. as a partial basis for my decision.

Ah-ha! The Maryland Rocket himself emerges! Yes Manny, I have been "braking like a man" for exactly a year and that's been 12 events...let's see, in a year I've gone through 16 sets of brake pads, let's average that cost to $125 a set, considering I've ranged from Porterfields to Pagids and have trashed three sets of rotors at $150 - $200 a set - well, seems that "braking like a man" has cost me around $2500!!

Looks as if my Big Red conversion is going to run a little under $1100 once I pickup a set of pads...my pads are rumored to likely last at least three events, and my rotors a good 8-12 events...YOU DO THE MATH!

This conversion is certainly going to pay for itself in one way or another.

I certainly understand your point about learning how to manage my braking techniques, but stopping hard and gaining on people because of it is addicting!! Hopefully this conversion works out for me, I really didn't want Big Reds, but the deal that was thrown in my face - I couldn't resist. We'll see how it goes.

Adrian, I only wish I had the drive and patience to write a book...so I'll leave that up to you...and help all that I can.

I've been struggling with upgrading my brakes for quite awhile. The only thing stopping me is the fact that it would bump me up to E class in PCA Club Racing. If I do upgrade, I've been eyeing up those Brembo 14" brake systems. However, I've been told that I would have to upgrade to 18" wheels as well.

Believe it or not Jeff, last year I managed to get 32 track days out of a set of front rotors. I used Hawk Blue pads, which would usually last about 7 days.

fwiw - heres a couple of piccys of the finished job:

good luck ! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Way cool Will, LOVE the yellow calipers - as my track wheels were just powdercoated a bright yellow...those calipers would top off the look. It looks like we went the same suspension route, except you used Eibach springs.

...wonder how your car does over bumps in everyday street driving?? I would like the added benefit of a NON-progressive springrate but think it would rattle my spine into subluxation!

Will, the thing I was questioning was the difference in what rotors I would use depending on what calipers I used - found out I would use different ones with the S4 calipers...remember, that was the original route I was going to take.

Manny, stay tuned for my new graphics...remember that I asked permission to "borrow" your previous design?? I didn't go the multi-color route, just used two colors...I'll post a pic when I finish up in the next few days.

...I can't believe you got that many days out of your rotors...guess I DO need to learn some brake management - but it's so fun to trash them!!
