Cool Front hood removal, easy??

Hi,

Is the front hood easy to remove for a paint job?
Some say the wires from the trunk light give some problems.

Thanks,

Arjan

Trunk lights are 1 simple snap. The hardest part will be to get the alignment just right when you put back on.

Hey Arjan,

Adding to what Horst said. Yes, it is easy to unplug the light and fish the wire out of the structure. Yes it is easy to remove the hood. However, be careful and watch to see if there are any washers/spacers between the hood and the hinges.
I replaced a damaged hood, and learned about alignment. The hinges attach to the body with three bolts, and can rotate back and forth to adjust the alignment and height of the hood. Also by having a washer in-between the hood and the hinge, you adjust the final resting height of the hood. It is an adjustment in itself.
So if you are removing the hood and placing it back exactly where it was, be sure to replace any washers/spacers (if there are any) exactly where they were too. Be sure to have an extra pair of hands helping you when you do unbolt it to avoid scratching anything.
Best of luck,
Steve

Cool

O.k. guys,

Hood is off, and they woked on the hood with fine sand paper, and painted it in first ground lack tonight.
Too many stone chips and insect adcid spots, so I thought after the speedy ride from yesterday, now it's the time for a repaint of the hood.

My colleagues from the bodyshop in our company, like to work on the Porsche, something different then usual they say.

Tomorrow they finish the rest.

Thanks for response.

Cool

O.k.

The hood is back on, perfect painted [Standox paint], the alignment is fine, I am happy again.

I know Christer, this will be not my last poaint job, but I try to keep the car nice and well looking.

I think I put on some Helicopter tape on top of the lower part of the hood, it will be also better for the contact on the bumper moulding.

Thanks Guys

Arjan
