Post Brakes

I have a '93 RSA. What is the Group's recommendation regarding brake upgrades. I have been told that the 993 front rotors and calipers are a direct bolt-on, and easiest/least expensive way to go. Comments?

Do you need an upgrade?

C4, 92+ C2 and RS/A brakes are pretty good. However, if you need more heat sink capacity, VCI has a good view of options: http://www.vehiclecraft.com/Brakes/vciweb7.htm

I would agree with Bill Gregory in that the standard set up is really pretty much as good as you need in most scenarios.I upgraded mine to 965 discs and big reds and while the braking is better, if its worth the expense is debatable. However, it appears to have stopped me warping my discs, but I have learned since the conversion that allowing cooling off time is advisable in any case, which I now do.
Properly functioning standard set up allows the anti lock to come on in the dry - so you can`t really brake any harder than that(my own set up has anti lock issues) so unless you need the heat sink it may not be worth the upgrade.

High,
I went w/ the big red(black) caliper on the front of my C2 and moved the original front calipers to the rear, this set up however is overbraked in the rear. Useing advise and information found on this site, I moved to 993 rear calipers(from a 1997)for the rear setup. I had a lockup situation in the rear w/ the original fronts back there, with this new set up my braking feels much more balanced and there is clearly less pad wear. There is no lockup under extreme braking, however I swithched to the 965 abs regulator. Very happy and looks good.
