Default Spring swap?? Adrian- got any ideas?

Can we put 993 or 996 springs on the 964? I've seen some on ebay; just not sure if the car is compatible.

Adrian, with your knowledge, is this possible?

Hawk, why would you want to put anything other than 964 springs on a 964 ?

Exactly my comment. The 964 springs are designed for 964s. Their rates, the design is for the 964.
The 993 and 996, especially at the rear have completely different suspension. The spring rates are matched for the specific suspension designs not the 964 system.
I know somebody that purchased a 964 with 996 springs fitted. It handled like a dog. The springs were too long for the 964 and were super compressed to fit wiping out the action of the spring.
Pre-spring compression sets ride height all these issues have to be considered.
There is no cheap way out of improving the 964 suspension and use components designed for the 964.
Ciao,
Adrian.

The only reason I was considering it is because there seems to be a glut of spare springs for sale. I was thinking if I could get a set cheaper than bilsteins or H&Rs, then it might be worthwhile. Thanks for setting me straight, as I certainly don't want a dog in the corners.

As much as I like to look at your car.....could you set it as your avatar instead? Its just the space it takes up......3 posts to a page is just selfish IMHO...
