Post NEW C2 Cab owber question...

Did ll the cabs originally come with a snap on cover for when the top is down? Do you guys know of a good source for a replacement that won't be at dealer prices?

Thanks!

Pretty sure it was standard. Also heard to check to eBay as they come up there from time to time. Problem with a second hand one is that the snaps probably will not line up right - being all hand built and all. I've been told if you buy a new one from the dealer that the snaps all come uninstalled and you have to make your own holes so that they line up correctly.
One other source I have heard of is <a href="http://www.gahhinc.com/." target="_blank">http://www.gahhinc.com/.</a>

The cover you are talking about is the boot. If you get an 80's vintage 911 cab you can also get a tonneau cover. The boot is part of the purchse of the car and Porsche recommends always using it when the top is down. It helps prevent the roof and headliner from beating the crap out of itself in the wind while driving. It's a pain, but I always use mine on my 944. The tonneau cover is a cover that runs from the dash to the rear of the roof. It is zippered so you could drive with the passenger side of the car, rear seats, and roof covered.

I got my boot from GAHH. It cost around $400 plus shipping in the OEM fabric. As Rick mentioned they send you the Tenex fasteners and snaps loose. You then take the car to an Upholstery Shop or the like and they will mark the boot where the snaps and fasteners go and install them. This way it is specific for your car.

Other places to check are: <a href="http://www.worlduph.com/" target="_blank">World Upholstery</a> and <a href="http://www.topsonline.com/" target="_blank">Tops Online</a>
