has anyone tried measuring the cornering force of a 964, and particularly how it stands up against a 993?
any data?

regards

Tony

No I haven't, but I think it would be very hard to obtain a definitive answer.

To pull this off, you'd need to conduct the test at the same place, same time, same temperature and ensure many of the variables were eliminated, i.e. the cars would need sames tires, tire pressure, alignment specs, ride heights, fuel level, etc. If any of these items varied, your results would be inconclusive. Also, you'd probably want to specify that both cars were equipped with stock suspension or M030 to ensure an apples-to-apples comparison.

I'm not sure what you're trying to determine, but the cornering force of these cars should be very similar given their similar weight and weight distribution. I know the 993 had a rear-suspension upgrade, but not sure if it would impact cornering force. Maybe someone else could comment?

You might go look at some of the tests the auto magazines have done, as they usually do some skidpad testing.
