Post regular ticking form distributor

Another question, before I started ripping into the 89 C4 to find the subtle miss and the probable ignition related cause of my PDAS/ABS light, I could hear a regular snapping noise coming from the distributor. Is this normal since there is voltage crossing all over in there? No evidence of external arcing in the night.

I think in a previous post you said you had checked the belt. Out of curiousity, did you check to make sure the rotors are properly aligned? Aside from breaking, belts could also skip teeth. The wipers shouldn't be parallel to each other, but I suspect you already know that. My thinking is maybe you jumped a tooth and one of the rotors is arcing far enough away where it's supposed to be that you're getting the snapping noise.

Just a shot in the dark.

Great point Bill, but since I'm new to this how do I know if it's off? what I'll do is take a pic of the distributor and if you don't mind, e-mail it to you. In the meantime I'll read the Bentley book which is all I have for now.

If it's off a tooth, it will be abvious. Turn the primary so the rotor points to notch on the housing. The other should point to the notch on the second housing.
Good hunting.
