Question Airbag light only

Last weekend, my airbag warning light came on. The light came on less than a mile from my home after some heavy braking on a spirited drive. Only the airbag light is on and not the seatbelt light. When I turn the car on, all the lights come up as usual, and then they all go away. And then almost immediately after the airbag light goes off, it comes back on. After some searching here, I thought it might be the crash senor contacts. So, last night I took a look at them and the light is still on. I disconnected the battery last night and when I get home today I will see if that worked. I’ve seen many posts about having both lights on, but only 1 or 2 with just the airbag light. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Lane

Even once you have cleaned up the crash sensor contacts the light will continue to appear until the fault code is cleared using a hammer.

I also had just the airbag light. I spent a lot of energy trying to get the light out with no Hammer, but the Hammer is required for a reset. I had the ! light every time I started too. Cleaning the crash sensor connectors with Radio Shack contact cleaner appears to have resolved the problem. It has been a couple of years now.

Good luck

If the airbag light goes on, then the seatbelt light should go on too - so you've either got a burned out seatbelt light bulb or the circuit board on your clock module has gotten flaky.

Flaky circuit board on the clock module can cause a fault that will trigger the airbag light, as can other things (as Springer3 mentions).

The seat belt light comes on when you start up the car, just like normal. But if you put your seatbelt on, the light goes away. I'll be playing with it some more tonight.

Floor of the trunk, next to the shock tower. Follow the wire to the connector near the bulkhead. You will still need to reset the fault code.

you can clear it with the scantool software if you know somebody that has built the interface near you.

I have the airbag light on. The seatbelt light is off because my car has european specification (SPain, tiptronic 1991). I tried to swich off using Scantool and the Interface from Ecufix, with this "reset" the lamp swich off and quickly (a second?) returns to swich on. The program says "code 30, unknow code". Has anyone any experience or some suggestion?
Thanks.
