Post 964 faster with a 6-speed G50?

If I swapped a 6-speed G50 from a 993 into my '90 C2, could I keep up with a 993 at high speed, in particular a wide-body (C2S, C4S)?

A good friend of mine is looking at a '98 C2S, he's always wanted a 993 and we were cheerfully discussing relative merits of various 993s (C2 vs. C2S vs. C4, etc.) and also the 964, all of which are great cars.

So at one point I say, "...993 has about 25 more horsepower than the 964-" when he flatly interjects with "35 Horsepower." He's right, 247 vs. 282 for the later 993s. However, this got my competitive juices flowing a bit (as did some comments on 964s I read on the 993 forum in threads with names like "993 or 964?"), so I dug into some back issues of Christophorus.

According to Porsche, the 964 has a lower coefficient of drag than the 993, 0.32 vs 0.33, and the 993 C2S/C4S/TT variants are probably slightly higher than 0.33. Also, the 964's top speed of 162 mph is at redline in 5th gear (which among other things means it is not making max horsepower at this speed).

So even though the 964 has less power than the 993, would its lower coefficient of drag allow it to hit 993 speeds (170+) if it were geared differently, say by swapping in a 6-speed G50 from a 993?

Of course this mostly a theoretical exercise, because neither of us track our cars and 170mph is scary fast indeed.
