I have been offered some wheels with y rated tyres on, i know their speed rating is higher(186mph) than ZR rated(149mph) but most people offer them with the ZR rated tyres. Is there any reason for me not to go with the y rated??

It probably depends upon how fast you want to go!!

 

No reason not to use Y rated tires, as long as the tires, speed rating aside, will work for you.
