There have been several threads on this subject if you do some searching they normally seem to end up with a recommendation for a closely matching aerosol spray.
You can get the formula ( not the code )from an
OPC bodyshop and another good shop with the right equipment can make it up. Alternatively try a good wheel restorer Jasmine Motorsport ( no affiliation ) have a very good reputation. Hope this helps.

Hi Tim,
I did search the archives before posting but couldn't find anything specific on colour code.
I'm restoring the centre caps only and so need a decent match with the rest of the rim. I'll do what you suggest and call my OPC tomorrow.
Thanks,
Roly

Thanks John,
I already bought some plastic ones last week - they're the dished ones from a 996 with the Carrera 4 script. I bought them as a stop gap until my crested ones were done but they look so good on the car I might just leave them.
I'm halfway through doing the crested ones though so I may as well finish them...
I phoned Rivervale Porsche in Hove who gave me the number for their bodyshop, Portslade Panels. They were completely uninterested in giving any help - the guy wouldn't come to the 'phone so I'm talking through his receptionist. There goes another potential customer...
The plastic 996 caps I bought are a perfect match - as are the originals. I can't see how this isn't a standard colour...

I went through the Porsche GB customer helpline who arranged for AFN (I think they are in Reading) to help out. They to give them their due were helpful. You might still get a quicker and easier response from someone Like Jasmine Motorsport.

Dupli-Color #77-01579 Code 176
Toyota Platinum Silver (M)
Clearcoat 1994 - 1989
Think I found this on Smartgroups 964 or one of the other Rennlist areas. In any case it is a good match on Design 90 wheels.

Check into "Polar Silver", it's a fairly prevalent color on MOST 911s. I specifically ordered the paint code from a 1987 930 for the hood stripe on my SC a few years ago.
I too have pondered wheel refinishing and believe that's gonna be close if not right on.

Thanks Jack,
I’ll order this up tomorrow.
I found the original <a href="http://tech.rennlist.com/911/pdf/993REPAIRINGPAINTSCRATCHESONWHEELScalvo.PDF" target="_blank">Rennlist article </a> in the technical area. It refers to both Plastikote (3230)and Duplicolor (77-01579) codes which took a bit of deciphering. So for future reference, this is what a bit of poking round the internet turned up:
The original <a href="http://www.mr2sc.com/websites/Reference/paint.htm" target="_blank">Toyota</a> colour is:
176 Silvermist Metallic
This site also list a number of other suppliers’ codes for the same colour.
<a href="http://www.plastikote.com/plastikote/colorguide/" target="_blank">Plastikote</a>’s version is:
176 Super Silver III M B/C (Metallic Basecoat)
This is available as a touch-up (Product code 3230) and aerosol (Product code 5733).
<a href="http://store.yahoo.com/rodi/dup88-series.html" target="_blank">This US store</a> sells the 88 series from duplicolor which, I guess, supercedes the 77 series. The paint is listed as:
176 - Platinum Silver (M) cc 89-94 (Product Code 88-01579)
I’ll post the results when I've finished the centres.
