Default Dutton Rally pics and tyre testing

The offical pics from the Dutton Rally are out at http://www.pbase.com/duttonrally/car--62, and some unoffical ones at http://community.webshots.com/album/411352946umUhJG/0, we had fun and didn't break anything, and got a few reasonable times in, but as the engine had only 700km on it after the rebuild we didn't push it too hard! (Well that my excuse and I'm going to stick to it )

I also did a driver training/ test day at Sandown on Saturday with Weltmesiter. A friend also has a 964, and we were keen to compare cars. She is usually a few seconds a lap quicker than me, but the difference good tyres makes is amazing. My car is on Bridgestone RE55's hers in on Pirrelli 6000s, both on 16" rims. My best previous lap of Sandown on the old tyres was 1:40 On the RE55s I was consitently getting 1:35. Then after an afternoon of driver training, 1:31

Her best time was 1:38. We swapped cars and it was definately not the driver that accounted for the big difference. We wanted to swap wheels over, but with only one jack it seemed like took much hard work, and her car felt similar to mine before the R spec tyres were put on so we are fairly sure that was the reason.

There was another 964, running 17" rims and Re55's and he was lapping on 1:26 He has also had some suspension mods done by Weltmeister, so we are both thinking of getting a simliar set up to him.

Sweet pictures! That wet-track portion looked like it was a lot of fun in the C4! I bet it was a blast.

You guys sure go "sticker crazy" down there.... fix that front smile, too!

It was huge fun in the C4, but I was too busy having 4 wheel powerslide fun to get a good time in.

The stickers were mandatory, it was an entry requirement that we put all those on the car, including the "Dick" ones you can see on the mirrors...

I had a similar experience with being refused by a number of them. In the end I got a good deal with Vigil. They are part of OAmps. Their number in Australia is 1300 134 054. Their web site is www.vigilins.com.au

You must say your are a number of the owners club, Porsche Club of NSW for Sydney, or they may give you a higher premium or not even touch you!

Good luck

I've just realised what you meant by this

I was trying a bit too had on the second run at DECA and came off. The only "damage" was the "smile" and my lap time

Not sure when it will get fixed. Too many other things to do...
