Post Brake Duct "Tabs/Ears"

Okay, I used to have a nice set of brake ducts...that is, used to...until WHAM!

I have ordered a set of RSR brake ducts and they're just a bit different than the ones I had.

There's an "EAR -or- TAB" that sticks out of the end, that would mount pointing towards the center of the bumper...does this mean I should carve a slot in my beautiful NEW bumper cover to accomodate these tabs??

My other ones were smooth and I took a long grade 8 drywall screw, in black of course, and screwed it through my bumper cover so that if I wanted to put the foglights back in - you wouldn't see the holes.

How did you guys mount yours? ...Bill?? ...Johannes?? ...OTHERS??

Jeff

Can you not 'carve' the tab rather than carve your brandnew bumper?

Sure...just wanna hear that's what the rest have done.

I want to keep any more "carving" to a minimum!

How's your suspension install going? ...I am so psyched about the trip to the Ring, and getting to meet some of you guys.

Have never been to England, or Mainland Europe...just parts of Spain.

Jeff,

I installed Porsche ducts, and they too have the tab like yours. I used a drill to create the rectangular slot to slide them into.

Yup, I had to carve my lovely new bumper too - but that wasn't as scary as drilling through my brake ducts, I didn't have any experience drilling through carbon fiber and was scared it was going to shatter...

Eion, no problem drilling through fiberglass or carbon-fiber brake ducts. Use a sharp bit and don't push too hard, the bit will turn the material that's coming off into powder.

Okay, guess I'll get the drill out.

I'll keep chanting, "this is gonna hurt me more than it's gonna hurt you". (to the bumper cover)

...hmmmm, wonder where I heard that before?
