Maritime Blue - only for the RS?
#16
I looked at purchasing a Maritime Blue 1992 Targa in Chicago in the fall of 2000. It was a stunning car and the car's records showed it was a standard color. My books also show it was a standard color from 1991 and on.

C2RS,
Well spotted! Looking at pictures of the RS, none have the headlight washers! Perhaps it was an option??
Click on the link for a Yellow RS (without Jets)

This is "Maritime Blue" which is the color code name used in Germany and it was standard on the CS/RS variants.

Maybe the RS in the first picture had a new bumper fitted at some point and they could only find one with headlight washers?
Anyways, here is a link to a standard 964 cab in Maritime blue, showing that it was indeed available for the standard cars.

And here are two links to Turbo 964s, also available in that colour:

I have the 'colours and interior trim' brochure from 1991 right here. It states 'F2/maritime blue' was available on all 911 variants, all 944's and all 928's. Talking of funky colours(under non-metallics) it lists 'M1/signal green' for all 911 & 928's. Has anyone ever seen this?

Jay,
Looks like that car's back on the market!
<img src="http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/oldplank/P2.jpg" alt=" - " />
Seller's offering it for less than $30K, according to the <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1876818490&category=10156" target="_blank">text.</a>

It's quite a bit lighter than Maritime Blue. This is the colour I'll probably end up painting my 951.
Well, it's not blue, but does anyone know the official name of this green?

I'm giving serious thought to this colour as well

That blue nr "15" is a genuine RS.
It was sold in Sweden and my guess is that it was fitted with headlight washers as part of the Scandinavian package we usually get on cars sold new here.
My RS does not have the headlight washers but it was originally sold in Germany.

Joey:
Thanks for the link to that car. It sure looks like the same car that I looked at in September of 2000. Luxury Motors had the car for sale at that time and were pretty firm on it's $36,000 or $38,000 price. I think it had 38,000 miles on it at that point. It's amazing how much prices have dropped off since then. I had to pass at that time 'cause I really wanted a coupe and the price was more than I thought it should have been.
But, the color is fantastic. Pictures don't do colors such as Maritime Blue justice. You gotta see these cars in person. This Targa was stunning on the showroom floor in that bright blue.
