Default Power Steering going out

The power steering in my '90 C2 is going or is gone.

I noticed it the other day pulling out of work. The steering was very heavy in the parking lot, but seemed to work when the engine was reved. Now it is just gone all the time.

My initial thought was the belt was loose, but after looking in a couple of manuals, the blt looks like it has teeth, and thus would not slip. Is this correct?

Anyway, I checked the fluid, it is fine.

I'm assuming this could be a really expensive fix, either R&R the pump and/or the steering rack.

Any advise or experiences?

The belt can strip.Try turning the steering with the motor off and then fire the motor and try again. Any difference ?If the pump isnt running then check the belt is OK.PIA to get to. Front RH of the motor.Take the passenger side rear wheel off.Just in and up from the end of the secondary muffler is the plastic cover.Take the bolts out and have a look.Oil leaks rot the belt .
Fingures crossed its the belt.
