Post Option Codes

A I have seen the body/engine code options in the Porsche 964 VIN (fifth from the right) as being:
0 - RoW (Rest of World) SC/Carrera
1 - RoW Turbo Targa
2 - US SC/Carrera
4 - RoW Targa
5 - Turbo Coupe US or RoW Cabrio
6 - US Targa
7 - US Cabrio

Others have advised that it is:

0 - coupe
1 - targa
2 - cabriolet

Can someone point me towards a definitive interpretation please ?

B What are the transmission codes on the Vehicle Identification ?

C Can someone point me towards a definitive interpretation for Interior Trim codes please ?

Thanks

Tony Davis

Dear Tony,
These digits have no definite meaning.
1 was used for Targas in ROW and for the RSAs in the USA. 0 was used for C4 coupes and Turbos in the the ROW. There is no defined sequence. 5 was used for Cabs and Speedsters. When you see them all laid out in front of you, you can see no pattern emerging.
Sorry but that is the best one can do.
The rest of your questions cannot be answered either really.
The VIN only identifies the model. There is no way to identify a TIP versus Manual from the VIN. Tip is an option number.
Interior codes, there are literally thousands of them.
You can check out the options list I have at
<a href="http://Porsche911.isuisse.com" target="_blank">http://Porsche911.isuisse.com</a> click on rennlisters and then scroll down this page until you reach the options code link or there are other decoders online as well.
A huge amount depends on where the 911 was assembled. Production Line, Spezial Werks or Weissach.
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: All of above only applies to the 964 series. No other, I have never compared them.
