Wow - I really thought it was just me!! I've owned my 90 C2 Cab for about 2 m onths now and have spent about as much time looking at oil gauges as I have looking at the road - I'm hoping to stop that soon. Anyone here able to time the exact moment your oil level will jump up at a stop? Each time the cab top goes up I ask myself will this be the time a motor fails and I snap the arms?

But I still can't help but smile when I effortlessly pass the jerk parked in the passing lane as he attempts to stomp on it and not allow me.

The car has been in the shop this week for valve adjustment and new exhaust system and I really missed it - I'm picking her up tomorrow - can't wait! -- Rob

BTW...I was laughing soooo much about everyone's comments. If any of you have seen ALL my post I'm in super paranoia mode. I can't believe how 99% of the comments apply to me.

Imagine my paranoia - I'm organising and leading a rally down to Monte-Carlo in 4 weeks time for work, that's a 1500 mile round trip in 4 days (and a lot of shame if she lets me down)! Trust is a massive issue. I feel more trusting since my intermittent fault was diagnosed and corrected, but my palms sweat a little more with every erraticism on every drive! Any recommendations on essential preparation for the rally would be greatfully received - as well as a list of parts to take!

cheers!

There are some suggestions as to what to carry here: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/218895-things-to-always-keep-in-the-car-avoid-getting-stranded.html

Marc
p.s. Relax, while the 911's are not bullet-proof, they are very tough!

You... You... You mean the worrying goes away for some? Mine is a garage queen that has never given me reason to mis-trust her. She has a poor idle from time to time because of the lightweight flywheel but other than that she always starts and goes! I'm glad to hear it's not just me. Does anyone else feel a sense of relief because others feel the same way?

I'm not so worried about the temps anymore. (Though I went through that phase) But I still worry about it if I get stuck in rush-hour traffic.

Rick's Top 10 List

10. What was that noise?
9. Did I smell that before?
8. When is MY DME relay going to go bad?
7. Did it drip that much yesterday?
6. Come on, come on... Keep traffic moving!
5. Will it leave me stranded on this trip?
4. Is that a scratch? <phwew!... Just lint!>
3. I hope that pothole didn't break anything!
2. Should I have this checked with a Hammer... Just to be sure?

and the number 1 worry/thought....

1. Will it die when I push in my clutch pedal?

Lol, i thought i was the only one.

I've had my 91 C2 for 2 years and as a previous poster said, i'm looking more at the gauges than the road....
164k Km and no rebuild of the engine yet.
The car runs like a champ, but appearantly these engines do even if half the internal parts are broken/worn. I might just have a professional tear my engine apart and put it together again just for the piece of mind

Yeah, I was a bit nervous about mine when I got it. I figured the best thing was to take it on a short drive first to get the feel of it. That was 1,400 miles from Miami to Ontario, Canada (in a day and a half).

You want to talk nuts, I bought my cab on Ebay, sight unseen. In Texas. I live in LA. Drove it home 1600 miles in 2 days. I'd never even driven a 911 before, I convinced my wife that by buying a 911 at a steal in Texas winter, I could resell it in LA before summer at a tidy profit.

That was 3 years ago, and they'll have to pry the steering wheel out of my cold, dead fingers before I let it go. Unless I come into a wad of cash and buy a 993TT.

Or a 997.

Default Have Faith!

My leap of faith was agreeing to buy my '90 C2 sight unseen, flying 800 miles from Vancouver to Calgary to pick it upand then driving a solid 12 hours home along the twistiest route I could find through the Rocky Mountains. You couldn't pry that grin off my face with a crowbar!!!

Love that car...

Okay, like others here I bought mine off EBay (sign unseen) from Ontario - I'm in NB (about an 18 hour drive).

Flew down with my wife and drove back in mid December on summer tires -- hit two snowstorms on the way home.....Wow that 4WD and PDAS really works when you need it!

Actually, I hardly ever worry about that stuff. In fact, as I kerbed my wheels for the 3rd time in a year a couple of weeks ago, I didn't even bother to get out and have a look. And my wheels are not cheap. I did wince slightly last week as I washed them but no....no major worries here...
