Default Rattle?

When I first start the car, put the car in gear (tip) and begin to pull away there is a “rattle” from the rear. Only last through 1st and second and is absent on all subsequent shifts. I have checked the engine compartment and deck lids for loose items and found nothing. It doesn’t sound like valves (it rattles rather than clicks) … the closest thing I can compare it to was the sould made by a rotten leaf shroud on a 77 nova I had a kid. I am assuming it's exhaust realted as once the car gets just a little warm the sound stops. Any ideas?

Check for loose heat sheilds on the exhaust. It's quite common for them to work loose.

All 964's have a CAT. It was the 1st car Porsche made that was universally compliant.

Rattle could also be a loose dust/water shield on the inside of the brake rotor.

I had similar rattles coming from loose heat shields surrounding the CAT. I was able to eliminate the rattles by retightening the bolts.

Tightened the bolts on cat shroud, they were quite loose, it seems to have fixed the problem.
Thanks to All
