Default need for corner balance?

I'm getting ready to replace my shocks & springs with the H&R/ Bilstein combo, my independent says I need to corner balance in addition to the F&R alignment, I can accept that, but i thought that corner balance was more for a race setup is that true?

TIA,
garry

If you set the ride height of the car to specs, you will be pretty close to the correct corner weights. You are right, corner balancing has more effect on a race car - I know guys who change their balance for specific tracks

On a street car it is likely that if your alignment is set correct, and the ride height is within spec, you will not notice any adverse handling effects, or notice adverse wear on the tires/suspension by not having it corner balanced. A street car is loaded so variably (sometimes a passenger, sometimes three!) that a corner balance on a street car is of not much use.

An underinflated tire will cause more issues!
