I thought that others might find this useful.
The light on the key for my '91 C2 was growing increasingly dim. Since I use the light a lot, I assumed that the bulb was dying, and a new key would be required. While looking for something else in my owner's manual, however, I found a reference to the key, which lists the procedure for replacing the batteries in the keys.
Access the battery may be obtained by opening the key, using a fingernail or small screwdriver in the small detent in the side of the key (it "pops" open, and then clicks shut). I would recommend opening the key over a clean flat surface, with the key level, to avoid losing the small parts contained in the key.
The battery is a Type 625A, 1.5 volt camera battery. I used a Duracell model from my local Radio Shack, which cost $3.16. Good luck!
