Question Protecting Shiny Rotor Hubs

While detailing my Speedster, I noticed that the zinc (?) paint covering my rotor hubs were discolored. With a little “Goo Gone” and a lot of elbow grease, I was able to remove the zinc coating to reveal very bright rotor hubs.

My question is; the zinc coating was there to prevent rusting up…. Is there any kind of clear coating I can use to prevent rust – but won’t yellow over time? As the disc and rotor hub appear to be one piece, I would imagine the hub would heat up under braking.

Any ideas the type of clear coat that would work??

Brad, if you remove the dull gray coating that the factory has on the hubs, when you wash your car and take it for a "spin dry"...you will certainly get rust goop all over your nice and clean wheels.

Been there, done that...a million times.

I have seen several people paint their hubs, either gray, black, even purple!

Either way, high temp. paint should be used...try engine block orange if you want to be "different".

I painted my front ones with an anti rust heat resistant paint. It looks much better than all the rust spots.
