Time for car praise....
So many threads about warnig lights, no heat, etc., etc.
I was driving in to work today, thinking about what a great car I had.
Specifically, I really like the way Porsche designed the AC controls -- top slider vents middel or windscreen, bottom slider vents middle or floor.
And I can mix, and match. Very cool.
Also like the idle speed set on the intermittent washers. Twist the ****, left, or right.
What else is cool to you guys?
We all know about the fast driving part.....

I like the accelerator pedal. When I push it, the car does things most other cars can't do.
I like the way my seats hold me in a way my wife never will.
Oops... was that my "out loud voice?"
I also appreciate the dash instuments. As much information as I'll ever need...

BRAKES! I love the brakes! Very few cars stop as well as a Porsche.

Was at the shop today having new tires put on the old car (SC) and noticed a generic asian econocar on the lift - I have no idea what it was since they all look alike. The front rotors appeared to be the size of a small salad plate, or smaller, the the rear brake shoes were . . .. . well, . . . . .tiny. I have no idea how that car would stop in a panic situation.

The electric rear wing!!
Do you remember when K.I.T.T. opened aerodynamic devices to reach 300 mph? Michael Knight had to push a red ****. On the 964 it's automatic. What a great car!

Getting back to instruments, I just love that huge tach staring back at you with the speed-o relegated to a partially-obstructed position. And this beast is equipped with not one, not two but THREE indicators involving motor oil. Not unique to the 964, but positive confirmation that you are driving a true sports car.
The one thing that sticks out in my opinion is the NOISE these things make! No other car can come close to the sound of the Flat 6! It makes you just want to drive the car within an inch of it's life!

The active spoiler is one of my favorites. The rice burners with those aftermarket monstrosities always look over when my spoiler retracts at a stop light, you can see the green starting to boil. One of the new Chrysler cars is coming out with one next year I think. Got one already!!
I love the noise too. I had a friend come around with a new Australian V8 Commodore late last year. He was upset when I said I did not hear him arrive. We went for a drive and he said, what about that noise and I said yeah nice, now come for a ride in the 964.
I think when I started the car in the garage he said s##t, then when I planted my foot and that special drilled airbox noise came on he was speechless.
We don't talk about car sounds anymore

I LOVE the Balance, of ...
Power - Smoooothe and strong & always Available.
Handling - Last weeks 700 mile club tour on Oregon country roads ... those Yellow "Caution slow speed curves ahead" signs. Every one taken at posted speed plus 20 - 30 mph .
Mileage - Yes even hitting triple diget speeds and staying in lower gears on the twisties ...
over 400 miles to the tank 22+ mpg !!!
And Comfort for Two - Enough space for a 3 day trip ...and the stuff my Bride found shopping in the Outlet Mall ...

My favourite parts are:
- the engine noise, but only with the windows open and at high (ie more than 4k) revs
- the instrument, that beautiful rev counter; also, sod ergonomics, those are for sissies which don't like cars in my opinion
- the brakes, always there, ready and faithful; any time I give someone new to the car a ride and do a quick 0 - 60 then stomp on the anchors, they always exclaim how good the brakes are!
- the bum, very nice...
On the other hand I hate the high driving position, which, together with the sunroof, makes it impossible for me to wear a helmet (for track days).

Yep -- the loud/fast part is great. I like revving high in 3rd or 4th, and having this total feeling of authority on the pedal. Touch the pedal and the car jumps. Turn the wheel and the nose is there.
The only thing I don't like is the cyclops brake light. It blocks my view, and the stupid bulb has rattled loose twice.

I've gotta side with Kevin - I'm *** man too. But I'm talking about my *** being oh-so comfy in my optional turbo seats. I love the high bolsters they really hold you in place during high-G turns.
I marvel at the "utility" of the car. It's pretty basic - 6 Cylinders, 5 speeds and A/C. There isn't a lot extra "crap" in the car - cup holders, navigation system, cd changer, blah, blah.

Hey Kevin I too am a butt man. I can't resist
turning to look at a 964 pass by.(I also like to
sneak a peek at the Boxster, also a great butt).
The only thing that is better than looking at a 964 is driving a 964. I have spent the last two months driving my Cab in Texas,Louisiana and
Oklahoma. This the first time in six years that
I have had this kind of free time at home with my
Cab. I love the way it accelerate, corner, brake
and just bring on the stares. I had a chance to drive in heavy rain on some twisty highway, and
what an incredible car.
OH!!! I love my 964 Cab. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
