Question Rear Brake Pads, '91 C2

Okay, yet another road block in "my plan".

As I am about to take on changing out the rear brake rotors, brake lines, struts and shocks...I have attempted to order Performance Friction pads for the rear of my '91 C2...this I understand, is a problem!

Seems few companies make performance/track compound pads for the two piston calipers that came on '90 and '91 964 C2s!!

Does anybody know of a performance pad made for my rear calipers?? I have no problem getting the fronts...just can't find a good set for the rear.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dear Jeff,
Yes this is a problem as can be getting parts for these calipers. I would highly recommend you replace them with the four piston rear calipers. These can normally be picked up fairly inexpensively from people who for some strange reasons have put even bigger brakes on their 964s.
You might want to check the ebay sights or just put a request onto the 964 mail list of rennlist,

hello jeff,

KFP offers rear pads for this calipers. They are made from a carbon kevlar material with a bonded ceramic heat shield. perfect for street and track as far as I can tell.

Pagid has them as well in yellow and blue.

Ralf

Ps. Hope you saw the "deal".

Jeff, I got my Performance Friction pads from Auto Zone. They did not have a listing for the 90 C4, but I knew that they were the same as for a 44 S-2, or 85 930, so I just ordered a set for the 44 S-2, and they are perfect. I do believe that your rears are smaller than mine, so you might try Auto Zone to see if they now list your car, or check to see of the 91 C2 mabey has the same pads as another model, which is what I basically did.

Hi Jeff,

I ran into the same problem when I did mine a while back. I ended up getting Axxis/MetalMaster pads from Tweeks. The only thing is you will not have a cutout area for the pad sensor so I just used a wire tie and tied it off.
I have been very happy with them and I have used them for auto-Xing without any problems.

Hope this helps !

Jeff! Get rid of those weenie rear calipers! I believe that the ones that my car have are the same as those on a 944 turbo or 944 S-2. Others have gotten the calipers inexpensively from dismantlers such a Parts Haven or Oklahoma Salvage. If you like, I will pull a wheel, and see if I can find a PN on mine for you, but I am pretty certain that the salvage places have a parts interchange book also

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies. I have found what is believed to be the "ticket".

Dan from Windward Performance and Eurosport (local shop) have both suggested Mintex "C-Tech"?? (spelling?) pads, I have ordered a full set for the car.

These pads supposedly provide excellent cold stopping potential for the street as well as exhibiting great qualities on the track...we'll see, I'll give a full report later!

P.S. Ralph, Katherine and Sasha...I never did get "the deal"...is there some mailing list I'm supposed to be on? If so, let me know.
