Default Exhaust system suggestions?

On to the next thing while sorting out what suspension to install... What are the nicest sounding systems without having a "drone" while cruising? Don't care about HP claims (and don't believe them), just want a good sport sound..

It was Fabspeed for the 997S (or OEM SE), no idea where to start for this baby!

Thanks for any input.

I think the stock with a secondary bypass is plenty loud and sounds nice. I've had two different Fabspeed exhaust/mufflers on my car and they were not anywhere near as nice (to my ears).

I'm not looking for "loud", just a deeper, meaner sound. Well, maybe a little loud..

Not familiar with what a "bypass pipe" is either.

I have a secondary bypass pipe on my car. It is also called a G-pipe based on its shape. It "bypasses"
the secondary muffler (the last one before exiting the tail-pipe) and is located behind right wheel arch (on a LHD car).

See https://rennlist.com/forums/diy-964-1989-1994-911/197456-g-pipe-secondary-bypass-fitting-guide.html for pictures and an excellent write up of how to put it on.

The secondary bypass adds an authoratative grumble to the exhaust note without being too loud or obnoxious. I really like it and have gone for drives up to 8 hours long and do not find it intrusive.

It is "sporty" enough to turn heads if you stomp on the gas though.......

Where did the G-Pipe come from? Cool idea, easily reversible, and lightens up the exhaust system substantially too!

Thanks!

I have a Fabspeed dual exhaust and get lots of comments about how great the sound is! My $0.02 worth.

I second the secondary bypass.......I have a cab, and the secondary just seems to open up the true sound of that 911 engine......Definitely not quiet like the stock setup, but it sounds like a real sports car. No drone, no reverberations in any gear......just sounds great.......And it is a very inexpensive way to go.......To test it, just remove your secondary exhaust.....it will sound pretty much the same...

I may go Fabspeed, as GHL is LENGENDARY for lack of support IF this little bypass that Marc turned me onto doesn't give me what I want. I tried to find it on Pelican but couldn't, so I wrote Wayne a note to get it added to my order. Fabspeed is a great company, and the racing shop nearby swears by them for street cars. Of course there is an exaust system known as the "Dan Jacob's Special" that most racers near here swear by which seems to consist of some Camero Flowmaster piece.. haven't gotten to the bottom ot that yet..

Go with the Fabspeed---had my RSA set up with the G-pipe and the sound was great. Now have the entire Fabspeed setup on my Cup (Euro Pre-muffler, Primary bypass, Secondary bypass, and Cup airbox). Fabspeed quality is second to none.

A new G-pipe will cost $150-$200 depending on where you buy it from...
