I hope others will follow suit, I filed too. My PCA contact is trying to set up a meeting with him as he lives close by to obtain a manual of his own. I'll those know how successful he is.

Just a list of entertaining excuses from Platinum Porsche for not delivering merchandise:

1/6/03 5th person who asked about stuff sent. UPS must be at a dead standstill.
1/7/03 UPS they are calling me back
1/9/03 you'll see it I promise, I'm not going to take somebody for $30. Thirty million is another story.
1/10/03 what's your name, I didn't keep any e-mail addresses.
1/15/03 Hi I'm Romer, Gene's dealership partner. He's in NYC taking care of building stuff,I'm taking care of merchandise. I will ship it out today for you.
1/22/03 You should have it today we damaged the binder with a box knife so we will steal one from something else and send you a good one.

Well the Gene and Romer Show is getting very amusing. So stay tuned.

I just wanted to say that I ordered a 930S Slantnose manual from Gene and received it in less than 2 weeks. I don't normally get into these flaming threads, but since I have no problems with my transaction I thought I would just drop in a say so. Now if I can only find a 911 to get (heavy sigh).

After a number of e-mails and about two months of time I finally received a refund from Gene of Platinum Porsche and I am returning the manual he sent me. The order was for an entire workshop manual set not just the one volume he sent me. So I guess it can be considered he made good on that part, however it did take a lot of time on my part. I think Gene should consider conducting business a little differently and improve customer relations. The thing that does bother me though is the fact he is conducting business out of a small house located at the 11 Apple St. address.
His ad implied he was a dealer closing shop. The check he sent me is :
Platinum Porsche Of New York
America's #1 Choice for
Excellence
PH 845-753-9023
FX 845-753-6457
EMAIL PLATINUMPORSCHEX@AOL.COM

The return address on the envelope is listed as:
TOGWO INTERNATIONAL, USA 11 Apple St.

I am wondering what type of business he really is operating and will let others decide whether to conduct business with him in the future based on these various discussions.

To anyone that actually received a technical workshop manual, what size paper was it printed/copied on? A4 or 8.5"x11"?

It appeared to be a legit manual without a binder, I don't recall the exact paper size but it was punched for a 4 ring binder and the paper was a bit heavier than copier stock.

Thumbs down

Me too Me too I was selling some Porsche Crest on Ebay and Gene <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> bought them. I e-mailed him and he got back to me quick and said the check is in the mail. He must have written the check on delicate paper and it must have vaporized in the mail because I have not recieved any more E-mails or a check from him yet, there must be a resonable explenation for this . And its been about three months now. And he cost me $1.10 to post on Ebay. When I find him I'll beat the $1.10 out of him.
