You'll also find some good information in Volumes 9 and 10 of the Up-Fixin' series, reprinting technical articles from the PCA Panorama magazine.

Jim,

Volumes 9 and 10 are available from PCA (www.pca.org). The articles are:

Vol 9:

"Carrera Cup for America", Don Spaulding
"Driving the Carrera Cup Car", Michael Cotton

Vol. 10:

"Lightweight Carrera Confusion", Bob Gagnon

Hi Jim,

I am considering one and am looking for any information I can find. I looked through all of my reference books and cannot find much on the Carrera Cup model.

Thanks, Bill.

Jim... just noticed in your signature that you have a 996 also. How do you like the differences in the 996 and Carrera Cup? I just sold my 996 a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks,
Scott

FYI, this is supposedly #1 of 45 964 cup cars. Local place wants $85k for it. They have a certificate of authenticity as #1.

Track down Feb 93 issue of Excellence for a seven page article on the US Cup Car.

Scott:

The are hard to compare. The 996 is a comfortable daily driver. The Cup Car is harsh and uncomfortable. I like the Cup car for the track. The steering is precise, the poerband is wide and with the old style suspension, it is a blast to throttle steer.

I like them in different ways.

Scott-

The serial number (last 4 digits of VIN) of the first American Cup Edition built was 0392. So check this to see if it really is #1. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
