Post Can 964 3.8 RS 18" speedline's fit a 1993 C4 Widebody?

Can you run the 235/285 18" combo from the 964 3.8 RS on a stock 1993 C4 Widebody? Also, does anyone know of a good sounding dual exhaust outlet system for the 964? Thanks for any help. I am new to the board and am in close to final stages of negotiation for a 1993 C4 Widebody for roughly 40K. I am looking for a nice, lowered, 3.8 RS look. Thanks again.

Look at the offsets on the RS wheels and then you'll know. You can measure everything from there. If you want full explanations on offsets, check the tire rack's web site. Very useful info.
By the way, I don't think that it will work without spacers but check anyway as those wheels are awesome . WIth spacers, it shouldn't be a problem. The other way around (i.e turbo wheels on narrow body) will not work however... If you get spacers, make sure to get the real Porsche deal and everything that goes with it. Your best source is probably Gert Carnewal at www.carnewal.com
All the best

Thanks for the help. I'll check into it on the tirerack site. I'm hoping they work since I agree that they look absolutely awesome.

Dear NYAndrew,
The RS 3.6 used 11X18 rear wheels. These wheels are "Very" expensive and "Very" hard to find genuine ones seeing as only 80 RS 3.8s were ever built. Be very careful.
Now these wheels have the wrong offset and will require spacers. They may also be a tad too wide for the C4 Turbolook which was built on the Turbo chassis anyway.
The RS 3.8 used a Carrera 2 rear end set up where as your Turbolook has a 1992 Turbo rear end set up.
The spacers required will be quite large, circa 25mm I would suggest. Watch that rear right oil pipe in the wheel arch.
Contact Fabspeed or similar (preferably a Rennlist sponsor) for the exhaust. Watch the emissions though,
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: I forgot to add the offset. Your C4 will have an offset of 52.3mm and the RS 3.8 used 61mm or 65mm offset rear wheels.

Guy's

If you are talking about the 3.8RS wheels, they will not fit period.

The rear wheels were 11J by (ET23? I think), this means that if fitted to your car, they would stick out further than the body.

This vehicle used the narrow body suspension platform, but had the turbo body. The offset of the wheels, ensured that the correct track was obtained.

Dear Phil,
I agree with you about the RS wheels but my data says these wheels have a 60mm or 65mm offset not 23mm. However I am open to correction on this. I know someone who owns a genuine RS 3.8. When he is back from holidays I shall ask him to check his wheels offset for me.
The research carried out by mayself and a couple of USA C4 model owners in the states shows they have all 965 part number rear ends. Turbo brakes, turbo wheel suspension.
These USA C4s were a very special build option M718 machines,

Guys,
I contacted my friend with a RS 3.8 and he checked his paperwork for it.
The RS 3.8 has a rear offset of 0mm. The 11JX18 rear wheels have an offset of 5mm.
Based on this information the 18 inch wheels will not fit a USA version C4 Turbolook.
The front 9JX18 wheels have an offset of 48mm. The front offset is standard 52.3mm.
The optional 17 inch wheels (included in the paperwork) are
8JX17 offset 52mm front
9JX17 64mm offset rear
11JX17 52mm offset rear.
Rear wheels require Porsche 43mm spacer fitted.
Only approved tyres are Dunlop 8000SP for both the 18 and 17 inch diameter wheels,
Ciao,
Adrian

Regarding the exhaust, you may get more replies if you start a new topic called "Dual-Oulet Exhaust" or similar.
I bought a B&B dual outlet system for my 1990 C4. Its loud, but awesome. I get a compliment on the sound at every single track event that I attend.
I also bought the left-rear valance from Perf Products, but I believe you could also get it from FVD.

You might want to consider the 3.6 Turbo 3-piece rims, which also look very nice, and will fit your car nicely in a variety of sizes. I have a set on my narrow-body 964 of 18" 3.6 Turbo rims in 8" and 10" sizes. The fronts are mounted with 245s; the rears with 265s, and the rears also have 1" spacers on them. I find the 245s a wee bit wide, and will replace them with 225s when they wear out – that will fix the rubbing-while-at-lock noises

You can get a set of original 3.6 Turbo rims, which are expensive, or RH offers a nice reproduction set. Wheel Enhancement also has RHs and sometimes originals in stock.

NYAndrew,
I have a B&B stainless dual outlet sitting in my attic right now if you are interested. It has about 5000 mi. on it. I have gone to open exhaust as the car is used purely for the track now. Retail on the muffler is $ 1000 or so. I'll take $ 450.00. Let me know if you are interested.

Question

Don Stephenson,
I tryed to reply to your email about the muffler with info & a couple of pictures but it bounced back & said your address was invalid. You might email me with a different address & we can try that.

The muffler is set up for the B&B header system.

Jay
