Question Importing car into France from US

I am planning to export my 91 C2 to France when moving there by mid 2002. The car is US-spec.

Any information on how this works is appreciated (both on technical and procedural issues).

Specifics:
On the technical side:
- what changes to the lights are mandatory? (headlights; what about the side repeaters not present on US models; what about the rear fog light also not present on US models)

On the procedure:
- which party is responsible for checking/testing cars in order to obtain a license plate etc.

Buy the front magazine Flat 6 and look for sources. What I can tell you is that you would be much better off selling your car in the US and buying a similar one in France. WIth the Euro VS $ where it is, you will gain a LOT. I just bought a cup car in France in September and imported it to the US and it was VERY expensive even without any mods as it's a race car. All in all, transport, insurance and taxes alone was over $5000 and it was by boat.
Hope this helps

$1000 for the container and count $500 on each side for loading and handling. Add insurance at $15 to 20 per $1000 insured.
You can't do it for less than $2000!
