Anti squeal pads....

Anti squeal pads....
... Boy there are expensive for what they are ...
Just looking at porscheshop.co.uk they are quoting 12quid per set of 4.
I'm sure I came across a site offering them for free when you buy pads.
Cheers

I have squeel from my back brakes. The older style single pistons. Only squeel during light pedal pressure.
Here is a list of what I have done, in order to the rear (for a while I thoguht it was the fronts. Ended up with new rotors on the front for probably no reason. /sigh)
*My anti-squeel spray is Wurth. Directions indicate spraying on back of pads. I followed the directions.
-Discovered no form of anti-squeel on the back brakes
-bled brakes: no change
-Tried anti-squeel spray: helped some, but problem of loud squeel remained
-Tried new brake pads: once broke in problem remained
-Tried these new brake pads with anti-squeel spray: problem better, but still there on harder stops transitioning to light pedal.
-Tried new brake pads with Pelicans anti-squeel pads: no change from previous
-Tried anti-squeel pads with anti-squeel spray applied: slight improvement
-Rebled the entire system after clutch cylinders replaced: problem is only around during heavy rain and then only occasionally.
So I'm satisfied at the moment. Next step would be new rotors.
I dont mind that very high pitch squeel sometimes that most cars have from time to time. Mine sounded like I was killing a goat or something so I had to fix it.

I had OEM Pagid pads (including mushroom anti-squeal hats) which worked fine at the track but often squealed around town. I recently replaced the pads with Ferodo and got rid of the mushroom hats. I didn't use any additional anti-squeal pads or spray and I no longer have any squeal and they still work fine at the track.

I had the squeal in my fronts, added the Pelican Parts damping sheet to my front brakes and the noise is way down. Mushrooms remain on the backs, and I'm not convinced they aren't responsible for the remaining noise.
FWIW, MetalMasters appear to have a damping material covering the back of their pads as is. I would think that if you put "mushrooms" on them, because of the knarled appearance of the installed material, they probably wouldn't make good contact and could lead to problems. I haven't installed my MetalMasters yet since once i got in there I realized I still had a lot of life left on the pads, and i'm a cheapskate.
I wonder if Ferodos don't have some damping material pre-installed on them as well.
