I have a lowered 964 cab that the last owner for want of a better word bottomed out "bloody sleeping policemen"The previous owner applied waxoyl so theres no rust on the area concerned. I put the car on a ramp and removed the waxoyl, plugged up the hole with some rubber mastic sealer(the proper car stuff)but had a problem getting it to stick due to gravity,I heated up the area and did manage to plug up the hole and blend the repair into the existing underbody mastic. My question is if the mastic hasnt made contact with the metal and theres an air space between the mastic and the bare metal, should I have corrosion concers,I would hate to see my pride and joy suffer with rust!
Cheers
Paul
I'd be inclined to have it done professionaly, at least that should come with a degree of warranty.
It would after all be a pity to find after a couple of years that the evil red worm had taken hold, more so if the next potential purchaser spotted it before you.
Worth the piece of mind IMHO.

Dear Paul,
Unless you do this repair properly your 964 is going to start to rust. Once you have removed the protective galvanised coating and do not protect the exposed steel properly rust will staert to from very quickly. This repair you have carried out will start to bubble within a year and the repair costs will increase accordingly.
Ciao,
