Angry Window Regulator Relay

I noticed when I was putting a new amp under the seat of my 90 C4 cab last weekend that there was a continual clicking coming from the fuse box whilst the car was unlocked. This happened whether or not either door was open or closed, and by a process of pulling each relay out in turn discovered it was the window regulator relay that was continually trying to operate.

Is this a sign of one of the door switches being bad or not properly grounded? Or is it just that the relay itself is old and needs replacing? Any other problems it may indicate? (The windows work fine BTW, and do not operate without the key in the ignition)

I've not found reference to this in any previous posts so am curious if anyone else has seen this before?
