Question Tall driver accommodation

I'm a bit on the tall side. The leg room in my 964 Targa is ok, but it could be better. I searched the archives and found some info, but nothing on moving the seat rearwards to increase legroom. I looked at the seat rails/sliders, and there are unused bolt holes that might be there to allow such an adjustment. Howsever, I don't want to unbolt the seats and find that is not the case. So, have any of my fellow tall drivers moved their seats rearwards, how so, etc? Thanks in advance for your help.

From memory, I believe that you are correct and there are indeed additional bolt holes to allow for the seat to be moved back. Let us know how you get on...

Yep, the archives have again provided the answer. This means that the average 964 driver can have an additional 2.5 inches!

MadH,

Yes, it is possible to move the seat on to the second set of bolts. Its an easy job to do apparently. You may need to remove the carpet from the rear holes (in my car the hole close to the central tunnel is covered) to get access to them. There was a TSB (which I have and can email you) with step by step instructions on how to do this.

You will add a bit of legroom but, at least in the Coupe, the more you go back the more the roof slopes thus limiting headroom. I assume this is not the same for the Targa though.

All: Thanks for the help. Riccardo: Thanks for the offer. I have printed the TSB text posted in 2001 by Adrian, but I cannot call up Figs. 1 and 2 posted by Jon in 2002. It would be helpful if you can repost them; if not, the TSB text should suffice.
