Post 1st Gear Transmission Noise

I asked a related question a few weeks ago, but I have this noise that is driving me mad. So, I hope someone can give me some suggestions.

About half the time, at a standstill, releasing the clutch to engage first gear I get a "rubbery" whine/grinding noise. It just happens for about a half second at the point I can feel, via the pedal, that the clutch is engaging.

It sounds/feels though like the noise sources from either the gearbox itself or from the actual foot pedal linkage perhaps which I assume runs under the car. Is there some type of rubber bushing or the like that is part of the pedal arm which activates the clutch?

The "noise" does not feel like it's actually coming from behind the driver. But rather that it is in the area of the gearbox or under the seat.

Any ideas? Thanks!
