Post E-Code headlights fro '90-C4

Can anyone give me some input on these headlights. I have stock lights on my C4 and as each day passes, the become dimmer.

Any suggestions as to where to get these, prices, installation, etc.

Many thanks in advance...

Regards to all,
Jose L. Menendez

Jose

There are a lot of posts on the relative merits of the three main alternative headlight choices 964 owners have: essentially they are

H 5 (standard fitment on US models- sealed beam and odd looking - worst performer of the three)

H 4 (standard fitment on European - and, I believe, other non-US markets - better fit and look and better performer than H 5s. I believe these are not US DoT approved - but lots of owners fit them)

H 1 (not standard fitment on 964 but the top-of-the-line used on 930's etc - no longer made, pretty rare and expensive: more adjustable than H4s and therefore said to be a little better performer).

H5s and H4s are available from the usual part suppliers and H4s are readily available on eBay for around $200 a pair new. H1's are less available, I bought a pair on eBay earlier this year - you are now in the $350-450 range used.

As I say there is a lot more info on fitting etc in the archives, try a search under H4 or headlights and good luck

Cool

I coverted to a set of H4's with 80/100 bulbs. Light output is more than double. Very worthwhile upgrade.

You will need

2 - H-4 light assemblies
2 - Paintable trim rings (optional)
2 - High wattage bulbs (optional)
1 - High power relays (strongly recommended with hi-watt bulbs)

I didn't like the looks of chrome trim rings so I purchased a set and had the local paint shop paint them to match.

How easy to install was the relay? Where did you locate it?

Also - I've a pair of the rims waiting to be painted - I'd be interested in what your shop charged you as a ballpark gauge when I get told what my shop wants to charge.

Thanks
