Anyone ever run a 17 or 18 w/a 52 offset?

Thanks

An ET52 is about right (the standard 964 D90s are ET52.3) but you don't mention the width of the wheels. The offset is one thing but if the wheel is too wide it will foul one side or the other.

I have 8.5Jx18 ET50 on my car but I DO have 18mm spacers on the front with turbo arches. 10Jx18 ET47 in the rear with 28mm spacers.

Regards

Dave.

They are 8.5 front. I'd run 225's on them. They are for a 996.

Thanks

LA... You may want to also post this question in the 993 forum as well... (If you haven't already.) A lot of guys over there either also own 964s or traded over to the 993...

(Notice... traded over to the 993.)

I would guess that 8.5J wheels are going to be a tight fit for the front on a narrow body. I'm pretty sure you will need spacers but just how big will depend on the amount of clearance available on the inner side. The 8.5J wheel is considerably wider than the standard 6j OR 7j wheel so the so, compared to a 6J wheel there will be 32mm LESS space between the wheel and the suspension strut. The 8.5J wheel will also extend 32mm outwards from the axle. Without spacers I'd guess that you will have contact between the wheel and the chassis when you turn the steering on full lock.

18mm spacers will put the inside edge of the wheel pretty much where the original would have been so should eliminate steering contact - but you'll need to be careful about contact with the wheel arch.

Regards

I have 8.5 on the front of a C2 but the offset I think is in the 40's....I think 52 might cause the tyre to foul the outside arch possibly...

I hat Et 52 8.5 x 17's with 225s - no rubbing - plenty of clearance.

Am I confused here???...the smaller the offset the FURTHER away from the body...ie outer lip of the wheel away from caliper. The higher the offset number the closer into the body...ie outer lip of wheel to the caliper.

I've got 18 Rufs I haven't put on the car and they are 58's...no spacers. I need to know if 52s will fit...seems they'd be further out from the car and possibly past the fender edge.

Have a look at http://www.mindspring.com/~toy4two/offset.html and check out the offsets.

I think you've got it right. The Porsche wheels (indeed, most modern wheels) have positive offsets, i.e. the mating face of the wheel is outside of the centre line - referred to as "inset wheels". I found this site very helpful in understanding some of these issues - http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbi...yre_bible.html.

You cannot discuss offsets alone - it is a combination of width AND offset which is important.

Dave
