Post I am going...

on a 3000 mile journey in a couple of weeks. Sorta looking over the red car, wondering what if any preparations I needed to do. My eyes lighted on the fuel filter, and I wondered when it was last changed on this 90 C4. Looked over the service records, and the answer was NEVER. Put in a new one. The old one was labelled "made in W. Germany". Being ever curious, I decided to cut open the old one for a peek inside. What I saw was a SWAMP. Surprised that the car ran.

That doesn't sound reassuring... Did you notice a difference in how your engine is running after replacement?

Haven't run it yet. When I broke open the fittings, gas poured all over (expected), and of course down on to the tin, down over the exhaust, etc. Since I didn't need to run the car, I have decided to give it a day or two to let all the gasolene evaporate, for safety reasons.

Yup, I think by the time you get all the way out here...you'll need a new Interstate battery.

It's waiting for you.
