Brake Pad Wear Indicator
Hi All
The brake pad wear indicator lights up from time to time so I checked each sensor and found each one has continuity. The front pads have about 3/8's of an inch of pad left and the rear just under a 1/4 inch. I would have expected one of the rear sensors to be open (i.e. open circuit). Am I correct in assuming that when the pad wears down to a certain point the sensor starts to touch the rotor and wear down also thereby opening the circuit? If the pads are not worn then I probably have an intermitten connection along the line. Any suggestions on how to diagnosis this problem?
Thank you in advance
Bill

Hey Bill.
I had a very similar problem when I got my 95. After a few minutes the brake wear indicator light came on but all sensors checked out just fine. Try and find a pattern of turning wheels to the extreme left or right that causes it to happen. I finally found that it was when I turned the wheel to the right after backing down the driveway. It turned out to be in between where the sensor plugs in and where the cable goes through the grommet into the trunk area. I was able to isolate the short pretty close by holding everything real tight and jiggling a very specific area until the light came on. Once I found the approximate area, I repaired stripped open and repaired the wire. Of course, I'm sure there is a proper replacement wire too, but I thought my solution was better than what the previous owner did... remove the indicator light bulb AND the master warning light and wonder why the master warning cancel button kept lighting up. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
