Pedal kits for heel and toeing
Hi everyone,
first time writer/long time reader
I've seen pedal kits in various catalogues
but very rarely for 964s.I have a 90C2 cpe
and would love to be able to have brake and throttle a little closer together,or the gas
closer & the brake further away.I've seen the GT2 & GT3 racecars have sweet bottom hingeing pedals to heel and toe.Any Advice?
Thanks very much

Quinn,
I have the Wings extra-wide pedal installed on my C2, and they have a 964-specific version (the only difference between the 964 and the pre-1989 911's is a swivel part that fits behind the accelerator pedal). They advertise in Pano and their phone is 203-438-2222. If you search the archives I posted a scan of their ad so someone else could see a picture of their "Third Foot". Their product fits on top of the accelerator pedal, and takes literally less than a minute to install.

Wings Engineering, (Ct. I think) builds a wide adjustable elevation throttle pedal that fits over the stock unit. These pedals are model specific and work well. The locking fastner needs to be checked as part of your pre track drill. They advertise in Excellence.

I struggled for three days at Skip Barber and never did get the heel-toe thing, figured I lacked the coordination or flexibility in my right leg - ACL reconstructed.
Does the racing (or oversized)gas pedal really help?

I just recently added a Vosstek pedal to my 964. It requires drilling three small holes in your plastic pedal (no big deal) and bolting it over the pedal with three screws with nylock nuts. I added two fender washers on each screw, between the pedals to raise it up a bit. The pedal has a bit of curvature to it enabling easier ankle twist access to the accelerator. It is mounted as solid as a rock and works great. I ordered it from Betterbodies (advertised in excellence) for about 90$. It included billet brake and clutch pedals but I don't use them...prefer OEM rubber.

Richard,
The larger gas pedal helps a great deal. You actually press the throttle pedal with the outside ball of your right foot while braking and downshifting. The larger pedal brings this area closer to the brake. In my 993 the brake pedal was too high for my foot to roll over to the gas pedal. The Wings Engineering pedal has adjustable height and pitch. Practice on offramps until it becomes second nature. It helps to run straight exhaust so you know you are adding the right amount of throttle

Richard,
The Wings pedal helps a lot. It's easier in hard driving, in part because higher speeds at the initiation of braking gives you a longer time to be on the brake while you bring the revs up and release the clutch while still braking. Good luck. AS

Bill & Alex,
I just looked up the Wings Engineering ad in Pano (as per Bill G's suggestion). From the picture it looks like I would keep the throttle depressed with my right heel while at the same time braking wiht my toes (and ball of foot).
Is that how it works?

Like MikeF, I installed the Vosstek pedals, purchased from Better Bodies. Very happy with them. Easy to install and attractive. Also, easy to heel-toe, but as I'm fairly uncoordinated, it is taking me some extra time to get the hang of it...
