Default 964 Tail Lights & Porsche Reflektor

does anyone have any suggestions as to prevent these very expensive items from fading and cracking?

I am about to replace all 3 pieces on my car due to them looking pink and a few cracks have materialized.

Also, who has the best pricing on the replacements? I get 10% off list prices at VW for Porsche parts, so considering getting them from there unless someone has any other alternatives.

thank you for your time.

d.

this was a fellow rennlisters quote on another post,

Cosmetic mods I'm happiest with:

Aero mirrors (repainted doors at mirror bases too)
Boxster twist wheels (17")
Front bumper fogs/brake ducts
Painted brake calipers

Cosmetic mods I'm not sure were worth it:

New rear lights and centre panel (ummm...yeah - I think that they look darker...less pink)
Painting my rocker panels (you have to be under the car to see )
New gas cap (nice and red, not faded orange.....)

I battled with this decision. Ultimately i replaced the corner light assemblies. They were faded and the brake lights were not as bright as I wanted. The new ones are much brighter. I used the excuse of safety to justify it. If someone hits me from the back i dont want there to be any question of the brake lights.

The center rear reflector I havent been able to justify.

Check out a long thread from last fall called "Faded tail lights" - several people painted theirs with amazing results. Practically free. This is on my long-term to-do list.

Any reports on how the paint is holding up long term?
