My baby is at the local Porsche shop and I just got the dreaded phone call from the owner of the shop.
CV Joint boot
AC Blower (Adrian was right again)
Cab top motor (OUCH)
Ring Gear (11 hours of labor)
I was told that the ring gear costs about $175 but it will take about 11 hours of labor because they have to pull the transmission.
Does this sound right?
Thanks,
Peter

Peter,
Do the blower and the CV boot yourself, I did and saved a whole bunch! Don't know how hard the motor for the top is so can't tell you if this is a do it yourself job (was on my old mustang) Save the bucks on these projects and put it toward the gear replacement.
YMMV

Peter,
If they open up the car to get the ring gear you might as well consider replacing the clutch while you are at it.
Also, the early Freudenberg flywheels had removable ring gears; the LUK flywheels come with a ring gear welded to the flywheel. Instead of replacing the ring gear on an old Freudenberg, you might consider swapping in a new LUK.

I ended up going with Bobby V. at Foreign Affairs. A friend of mine used to have all of his work done at Foreign affairs so I figured if you thought they were equal I might as well go with the one I had heard of before.
How was the track?

I recommend you call Mike Gokey in Lauderdale 954-772-6272. His shop is called German Performance and he does great work at reasonable prices. He is a Porsche expert and specializes in transmissions.
Although Mike will likely be less costly than Foreign Affairs, you can't go wrong with either shop. I've used both.
Best of luck, Adam 93 RSA
